The Hague meets Hamburg: Bunker special at the Golden Pudel

On Friday, 06/05/2011, Schmerzlabor Panzerkreuz Sound System will honor Helena Hauff’s birds and other instruments with a Bunker special. Guy Tavares best known for being part of Unit Moebius and the founder of Bunker Records with it’s first release in 1992 now producing under the name of Schmerzlabor is still an activ squatter in The Hague. And that’s what he says about his self:

‘autistic child, compulsive (LSD/speed) freak, dysfunctional nerd, beat-up punk, veteran rocker, eccentric leather dandy, dedicated daddyo and libertarian renaissance manboy (homo universalis or idiot savant?) with many limited capacities, so I better stay humble and keep up that essential sweet and bitter irony. product of an ex-colonial ex-upper class (too atheist, too decadent and too perverted, I guess) and multi-racial (portuguese/jewish/dutch/indonesian) bohemian family and raised in the tower blocks of the fucked up newtown suburbia/banlieue of Alphen a/d Rijn (20 miles from The Hague), did gymnasium/grammar school, studied biology, philosophy and prehistory at Leiden university, former director of absurdist/satyrical punkzine ‘maximum droplul’, musician (predominantly singer and drummer) in many bands since 1985: a.o. orange sunshine (hard-rockin’ hi-volume ’69 acid fuzz motor blues), johnny cohen and the new age nazis (crazy jewish/multi-racial swastika speedfreak hardcore punk rock’n’roll), panty boy (raw garage punk rock’n’roll), sunwheel (heavy ’70’s sabbath/ACDC-style hard rock), al naafiysh (ultra-heavy proto-doom rock mantras), white trash minstrels (surf instros), unit moebius (twisted robot acid and industrial techno), DJ schmerzlabor (dark industrial electro and black ritual acid), los hermanos rodriguez (booty bass/ghetto trax). owner of 2 record labels: motorwolf (check out www.motorwolf.com) for the raw motor rock sound and bunker (check out www.bunker-records.com) for the sinister electronic sound. organizer of many underground squat concerts and illegal acid parties in The Hague’s metro area since 1985, a.o. amphetamine reptile (garage/punk/noise rock shows), acid planet (acid/tekno), de bruine planeet (electro funk/punk rock), scsi loser bar (garage/surf/punk/HC/stoner/doom/hard rock) and dystopia: anything from raw rock (‘n’roll), heavy dub reggae and dark doom metal to gloomy industrial electro/tekno, old-school miami bass hip hop and black acid house. new venue cumming up: scorpio rising, a dark leather dexedrine basement. I have 3 boys (Rui, 10 years old, Boris, 7 years and Driss, 5) and in my basement I also run my own vintage analogue recording studio.’

And here’s an interview with Guy and a documentary about The Hague’s electronic music scene: When I Sold My Soul To The Machine. This night will be massive. Highly recommended!

And on Tuesday, 26/04/2011, Jendrik Rothstein and Helena Hauff will give a little foretaste of what is to come with playing some of the purest and rawest tunes of the history of techno music. At the Golden Pudel Club.
